Who Are We?
We breed and raise German Shorthaired Pointers and Hungarian Vizsla which are both dual purpose dogs, ideal as family pets or as working gun dogs. They are both extremely intelligent breeds and are equally at home in front of the fire or out in the field.
Located in the country side in Swansea, South Wales. We have the kennel name Tycwmdarrans registered with the Kennel Club which was taken from the family home name.
Our dogs have the exercise area of not only our large half acre paddock but also of our 2 ½ acre private woodland.
We are also conveniently located just 5 minutes from J46 of the M4 for easy access.
I have always had animals of one type or another from a very young age and moved on to exotics in the 1980s including Meerkats, Yellow Mongoose, Banded Mongoose, Dwarf Mongoose, Agoutis, Mara, Woodchucks etc, I also worked at Pensycynor Wildlife Park in Neath before it closed in 1998 where I gained my City and Guilds Certificate in ‘Zoo Animal Management’.
I have been a local authority licensed breeder since 2013 and was also involved with the Local Authority Enforcement project working group for licensing in 2023 with Monmouthshire council.
Think Before You Buy: Why Only Licensed Breeders Should Be Trusted
Before bringing home a new puppy, it’s crucial to do your research. Always buy from a breeder licensed by your local authority. These breeders follow strict welfare standards and are inspected regularly—unlike illegal or unlicensed breeders who may operate in poor, harmful conditions.
Puppy farms and unlicensed sellers often tempt buyers with lower prices. But that initial “bargain” can quickly become expensive if the puppy has untreated health issues—leading to hundreds, even thousands, in vet bills.
A recent case in Ceredigion saw eleven people, including a local councillor and a singer, charged in connection with an illegal dog breeding ring. Buyers were allegedly duped into thinking they were getting their puppy from a loving family home. The case is a serious reminder: appearances can be deceiving.
